What green ratings and BRSR ask a hotel portfolio for

Hospitality carbon data is a property-level problem before it is a reporting problem. Energy, fuel, refrigerant and water data usually sit with individual properties, in different formats, and only get consolidated once a year - which is too late to be useful for a rating submission or a corporate buyer's questionnaire.

Green rating systems such as IGBC and LEED, and corporate travel buyers, both want the same underlying thing: operational emissions per property that can be traced to meter and invoice data. Listed hospitality groups additionally file BRSR, where the same numbers surface as intensity KPIs.

The X-Ray reads what your group already discloses and shows how far the public record is from a defensible per-property baseline.

  • Whether a BRSR has been filed for the latest financial year, and whether BRSR Core carries limited or reasonable assurance
  • Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions as reported, with the reporting year attached
  • Scope 3 emissions, and whether the figure is disclosed in the filing or estimated from an industry benchmark
  • How many of the fifteen GHG Protocol Scope 3 categories are actually itemised
  • SBTi status (committed or validated) and CDP participation
  • Whether public carbon claims are backed by assured data
