Carbon X-Ray leaderboard

India Steel carbon ratings, 2026

Independent carbon ratings built from public filings and disclosures.

How steel companies are rated

Every steel company here is scored on the same 100-point rubric as the rest of the Carbon X-Ray universe, from public evidence only: the filed BRSR, any BRSR Core assurance statement, the CDP and SBTi registries, and reported Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions.

Steel is a CBAM-covered sector, so embedded emissions per tonne matter commercially as well as for disclosure.

We name only large listed companies; smaller entities stay anonymised. Rankings load live when the page opens, and each row links to that company's full X-Ray with the evidence behind every mark.

  • Whether a BRSR has been filed for the latest financial year, and whether BRSR Core carries limited or reasonable assurance
  • Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions as reported, with the reporting year attached
  • Scope 3 emissions, and whether the figure is disclosed in the filing or estimated from an industry benchmark
  • How many of the fifteen GHG Protocol Scope 3 categories are actually itemised
  • SBTi status (committed or validated) and CDP participation
  • Whether public carbon claims are backed by assured data
